the man who climbed the mountain
|
This porcelain collection is inspired by a allegory written by my late brother, ernie batiste iv.
In that poem I see the recognition of the task of summiting, alongside an acceptance that the challenge yet looms. In making this work I’ve begun to sit with the mountains I thought had been climbed, on my own, as a community, as a country. I am trying to accept that they are all still there. Everything but the figure is porcelain with a satin matte white glaze. Though mountains were not conquered, the effort was pure. |
